Compare the source track, player and television or soundbar output methodically.
Audio issues can sit in the source track, the player decoder or the HDMI and sound-system chain. Picture playback alone does not prove that the selected sound format is supported.
Prepare and test
Check mute, volume and the selected output, then compare TV speakers with the external soundbar or receiver when one is connected.
Try another available audio track in the same source. If sound works on a second channel, preserve the first source name and track information.
Temporarily test a simple supported output configuration and compare the same content. Record any change in delay rather than altering passthrough, decoder and picture settings together.
Read the outcome
The intended track plays through the selected output, or the incompatible source or format is identified.
Do not assume every source has multiple languages or every device can decode or pass through every surround format.
Choose your actual device route
